Packrafting is an increasingly popular activity all over the world. It is a combination of hiking and paddling. The idea is well, to pack a small personal raft in your backpack. Alpacka rafts are the finest raft for packrafting. When you reach the river on your trek, inflate your packraft, strap down your backpack, and float out of the wilderness with the river, instead of fighting the undergrowth and sweat. Why only trek or hike in the wilderness when you can also enjoy the splendor of its rivers and streams? Trekkers have packed these rafts on week-long trips, trekking and then floating down rivers. Paddlers pack them instead of kayaks to run hard-to-access headwaters. This is also a useful boat for kayak fishing, as fishermen used them to access remote sections of rivers and lakes. And people who own folding mountain bikes are discovering that a folding mountain bike and their Alpacka raft gives them access to an amazing number of places on the planet. The best thing is, it adds on so much fun to any outdoor program !

The decision is only in the size !
Alpacka rafts come in three sizes. Paddlers should remember that bigger isn't necessarily better. Most people find that packrafts handle best when they fit snuggly, especially in whitewater. Smaller boats also weigh less, pack down smaller and inflate faster. Consequently, unless paddlers plan to carry a lot of gear, they should select a boat that fits tightly. Most people
who are shorter than 1.75m will probably be most satisfied with an Alpaca.
Paddlers between 1.75m and 1.85m will probably be happiest with a Yukon
Yak. Taller paddlers should consider the Denali Llama. |
